Hugi’s Dream

Posted on: 4 June 2021

I ran around and round and round,

My ’glad to be alive’ run.

I’d jump, my paws all off the ground

To see if I could touch the sun.

I’d chase a squirrel, cat and hound

Never catching, just for fun.

I sought, I searched, until I found

Pheasants, ducks downed by a gun.

I ran around and round and round,

My ‘glad to be alive’ run.

Now I’m old, my joints unsound

Until I dream, then I’m not done,

I run around and round and round,

My ‘glad to be alive’ run.
